What's the motivation behind naming one's son after the father? William Jr., for example. Is it the case of poor imagination or do people WANT to have their son(s) owning the same name? Perhaps it's historical, dating back to the Monarchy when kings and queens loved to hear their own names. That doesn't seem to apply in this modern era, and only sons will get their fathers' names (as opposed to daughters getting their mothers'). Besides that, the Jr./Sr. thing adds another level of confusion and complexity to distinguish between father and son (say for phone calls). Anyway, just a thought.
