Why can't spiders crawl out of bathtubs? What is it about the material that prevents spiders from gripping, even when it's dry? I was watching a spider in my tub for about 5 minutes, as it crawled up the rounded bottom, scaled about 5-6 inches, then tumbled back down in failure.

I wonder if Spiderman ever slips in the shower. How embarrassing.
