Competition is in the Air

It's that time of the year again. Our company is holding the annual "Clubs" tournaments, where each company club has a budget of 8,000nt - $15,000nt to hold a competition. This year is my busiest yet, because I'm entered in a whole slew of events. Here's the rundown.

Basketball Club
- 3-point shootout
- mixed (male/female) special event (just shooting)

Foosball Club
- Men's Competitive Singles
- Doubles

Fitness Club
- Muscular Fitness (includes push-ups, chin-ups, benchpress, leg lifts, high-jump, bicep curls, and lat pulldowns)

Billiards
- 14-1

Table Tennis
- Men's Competitive Singles
- Doubles (though my partner's female)

Photography
- Scenery
- People

Swimming
- Men's 100m Freestyle
- 400m Relay

So that's going to keep me busy on top of my overloaded work schedule. But I'm looking forward to it. I expect to take medals in a few of those events, at least. Just for sport, for money, and for fun.

You probably got those first three in the bag, no?

The other ones ... maybe table tennis too, but photography is going to be tough, simply because there are others with superior equipment. Oh oh oh ... buy yourself the new Canon G9 (but it's not out in time).

Actually, I'm counting on foosball, fitness, and swimming to be my stronger events. Basketball is iffy - as well as I may sometimes shoot when I practice or in a game, based on past experience, I don't perform well when competing in the 3-point shot. My knees shake and I usually throw up air balls. But when I signed up, there were only 3 competitors for that event, and prizes given to the top 3.

For photography, it's sort of a "no additional work needed" event for me. I'll just look through photos from Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan, etc. and take out a few pictures I like and submit them. If I win, I win. If I don't, then that's fine. 20% of the grading is given to the title and write-up, where I see myself as being at a disadvantage. If I try to write something deep, they won't understand it anyway. I'll be blown away in table tennis. The past 2 years, I've taken 1st place in the non-competitive group. But now they've forced me to play competitive. So... yeah. Billiards, I'm just there to play.
